Denys Rinpoché


Lama Denys Rinpoche is the head of the Sangha Rime, master and source of his teachings and transmissions in an approach of the rime tradition. Born in 1949 he met Kyabjé Kalou Rinpoché in India in 1968 and studied in his monastery until 1976. He also became the interpreter and assistant of Kyabjé Kalou Rinpoché and accompanied him to Europe for his first voyages. In 1976 Denys Rinpoche accomplished in France the first traditional three years retreat of Europe and Kyabjé Kalou Rinpoché conferred the spiritual direction of Karma Ling Institute in Savoy on him. Kyabjé Kalou Rinpoché acknowledged him to be one of his spirituals heirs, naming him Vajracharya*, master of Vajrayâna and perpetuator of the lineage. Following the tradition of rime, Denys Rinpoche also received also the transmissions of the great masters of other Tibetan lineages.

Denys Rinpoche is an accomplished master due to his double education, classical studies in France and the formation as lama of the Tibetan tradition and some long yogique retreats. He is particularly appreciated for his clearness, presenting the essence of the way of Buddha in French and in our modern context.

Former president of the European Buddhist Union, he works for over 30 years now for various projects promoting fundamental human values, cooperation between different traditions and ecology.

Over the past years, Denys Rinpoche and the Sangha Rime have developed a strong connection to Kundun, the Dalai Lama (invited to Karma Ling Institute in 1993 and 1997), the Gyalwang Karmapa (Orgyen Trinlé Dorjé, invited in 2010), His Eminence Taï Sitoupa, Kyabjé Bokar Rinpoche, the Vidhyadara Trungpa Rinpoché and Chögyal Namkhaï Norbu Rinpoche.
